Protecting civil liberties and human rights for all is a core American value. It defines the nation and is at the heart of the Bill of Rights. But today, the U.S. government is undermining American values by:
These actions violate basic rights and the principle of liberty and justice for all. What kind of a country are we if we allow these things to continue? We should not be moving further away from the vision this country was founded upon, but toward it.
Through campaigns and public advocacy, we can build our power to help our country live up to the vision of our Declaration of Independence.
Our solutions include immediate legislative fixes, such as generating support for the Secure and Safe Detention and Asylum Act which was recently introduced in the Senate; organizing grassroots activists around our campaign to Hold the Department of Homeland Security Accountable!; and convening the Night of 1,000 Conversations across the country to address the human rights and civil liberties violations of people living in the U.S.
We are working to end hurtful, regressive legislation and replace it with laws and government practices that follow our principles.
Our long term solution is to create a grassroots movement that brings America closer to it’s founding values – to build a country that truly lives up to it’s vision. If you support our principles, then become a RWG Member and we can work together to create long-term change.
