Washington DC- November 10, 2009 - Today marks the 61st anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which affirms that "[a]ll human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights." The principles laid out in this historic document bear a resemblance to another declaration that is at the foundation of the United States. The Declaration of Independence states, "That all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
